WTH?!? 50 Cent Sides With MAGA Gov. Landry—Backs Law That Could CRUSH BLACK LOUISIANA (video)

In a surprising turn of events, rapper 50 Cent has expressed his support for a controversial constitutional amendment in Louisiana, aligning himself with Republican Governor Jeff Landry. This move has raised eyebrows among activists and community leaders, particularly given the potential implications for the Black population in the state.

The Louisiana election set for tomorrow features four constitutional amendments, which encompass significant changes to tax laws and judicial processes. Activists like Gary Chambers Jr. have been working tirelessly to educate voters about the potential repercussions of these amendments, particularly for marginalized communities. The Power Coalition, alongside Chambers, has been disseminating information urging residents to vote against all four amendments, asserting that they could negatively impact funding for education and public services.

50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson, recently signed a long-term lease for studio space in Shreveport, Louisiana, and he has positioned his endorsement of Amendment 2 as beneficial for the state. In a video message, he touted the amendment as a means to secure permanent pay raises for teachers and to double tax deductions for senior citizens. He framed his support as a bipartisan effort for the betterment of Louisiana, stating, “Don’t let anyone confuse you about Amendment 2. It gives teachers a permanent pay raise. This is all good stuff.”

However, activists have challenged this narrative. Chambers criticized the amendment, arguing that it fundamentally restructures Louisiana’s tax code to benefit wealthy business owners like 50 Cent while placing an increased financial burden on working-class citizens, including teachers and essential service workers. He emphasized that the amendment masks deeper issues, including a lack of adequate funding for early childhood and K-12 education, as well as infrastructural maintenance.

Chambers expressed disappointment over 50 Cent’s involvement, suggesting that the rapper may not fully understand how these changes could harm working-class families. “It’s about what’s good for him, but the truth is this policy will cost poor people more money while helping the rich keep more of their wealth,” he said.

The situation has become increasingly contentious, particularly as the governor’s administration faces scrutiny over its tactics to push these amendments through low-turnout elections. A recently leaked conversation caught Governor Landry discussing expectations for voter turnout, revealing a strategy that appears to capitalize on voter apathy. Chambers pointed out that historically low engagement among Black voters could shift the balance if mobilized effectively, stating, “If Black folks turn out in larger numbers, we can defeat these amendments.”

The amendments themselves, as outlined by critics, include provisions that could enable the state legislature to create specialized courts, shift juvenile justice policies towards harsher penalties, and fill judicial vacancies during low-turnout elections, further entrenching inequities.

In a state already grappling with systemic issues such as high crime rates, poor educational outcomes, and insufficient healthcare, the stakes are high. Activists are calling for increased awareness and engagement from Black communities, emphasizing that their votes could be pivotal in shaping the future of Louisiana.

As the election approaches, the debate continues to heat up, with community leaders urging residents to prioritize the long-term implications of these amendments over short-term promises. The outcome of this election could set a precedent for future governance and community well-being in Louisiana, making it vital for residents to exercise their voting power.
