‘THE TIME IS NOW’: Parents of Oct 7 victim call on Netanyahu, Hamas to reach ceasefire (video)

In a poignant appeal for peace, the parents of Omer Nutra, an American IDF commander killed during the October 7th Hamas attack, have called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas to negotiate a ceasefire. Their emotional plea comes as the conflict continues, with ongoing hostilities impacting countless lives and families.

Omer Nutra was among two Americans whose bodies are still held by Hamas in Gaza. His parents, Ronen and Orna, expressed their relentless commitment to advocating for the hostages still alive, emphasizing the urgent need for resolution. In a recent interview, they shared their hope that President Donald Trump’s leadership could help facilitate a ceasefire and the return of all hostages, both living and deceased, for proper burial.

The Nutras’ advocacy comes in the context of a significant protest in Israel, where approximately 30,000 people rallied, sending a clear message to the government: it is time to end the war. “The Israeli people are tired of wars. We need to bring hope and prosperity back to the Middle East,” Ronen Nutra stated, reinforcing the sentiment that the recent military successes against Hamas should pave the way for peace negotiations.

As families grapple with the uncertainty and pain of war, the Nutras highlighted the emotional toll that the prolonged conflict has taken. With 50 hostages still confirmed to be in captivity—30 of whom are believed to be dead—the urgency of their situation cannot be overstated. “Every second counts for those who are still alive,” Orna Nutra remarked, stressing the necessity of swift action to bring the hostages home.

The couple recently returned from Israel, where they witnessed the somber return of two American-Israeli hostages for burial. They described the relief of those families as they finally received closure, a stark reminder of the personal tragedies woven into the broader conflict. “This has taken over our lives for such a long time,” Orna reflected, underscoring their desire for peace amid profound grief.

As the situation develops, the Nutras remain hopeful that their call for a ceasefire will resonate with both Israeli leadership and Hamas. They believe that now is the time for decisive action to end the violence and begin healing for all affected. “The time is now,” Ronen Nutra declared, echoing the urgent plea for peace that is shared by many in the region.

The Nutras’ unwavering dedication to advocating for the hostages and their commitment to peace serves as a powerful reminder of the human cost of conflict. As families across the globe look on, the hope for a resolution continues to grow, reflecting a shared desire for safety and stability in the Middle East.
