NY man arrested for threatening to shoot, kill ICE agents (video)

A 43-year-old man from Buffalo, New York, has been arrested and charged with making violent threats against agents of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Matthew White was taken into custody after he posted a series of alarming messages on social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, where he explicitly called for violence against ICE personnel.

The threats surfaced in a series of posts dated in April. One notable message read, “Kill them all. ICE is the new age Gestapo,” while another stated, “Understand if your ICE agents don’t show proof of identity and a signed warrant, we will kill them.” Perhaps most chilling was a post where White expressed eagerness to inflict harm, saying he “can’t wait to put a bullet into this guy’s brain but first his children.”

These posts have raised significant concerns regarding the safety and morale of ICE agents, who have increasingly faced hostility and threats in recent years. Lawmakers have condemned the rhetoric surrounding ICE, with some politicians labeling the agency as a “Gestapo” or “terrorists,” which critics argue could incite violence from individuals like White.

The recent incident reflects a broader trend of escalating threats against law enforcement officials involved in immigration enforcement. The situation has been exacerbated by a political climate that has seen calls for increased scrutiny and accountability of ICE agents. Some politicians have even proposed legislation that would require federal agents to reveal their identities while on duty, arguing that masked agents create an atmosphere of fear and mistrust among the public.

Despite the rising tensions, many ICE agents continue to perform their duties, often at great personal risk. Officials from the agency have noted that they are simply enforcing laws that have been established by elected officials. However, the threats and hostility they face raise serious questions about their ability to operate effectively and safely.

The arrest of Matthew White serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of incendiary rhetoric in the political discourse surrounding immigration and law enforcement. As calls for violence against ICE agents become more pronounced, it is vital for both political leaders and the public to recognize the impact of their words and actions on those tasked with enforcing the law.

In the wake of this incident, many are calling for a united front against the normalization of violence against law enforcement. The hope is that by addressing the rhetoric surrounding immigration enforcement, the community can foster a safer environment for all, including those who uphold the law. The situation remains fluid, and further developments regarding White’s case and the ongoing discussions about ICE and its role in immigration policy are anticipated.
