**Breaking News: MARTA Officers Shot, Gunman Still at Large in Downtown Atlanta**

In a shocking incident late last night, two MARTA police officers were shot at the Five Points station in downtown Atlanta as they attempted to arrest a man caught urinating on the platform. The confrontation escalated rapidly when the suspect opened fire, striking one officer in the arm and grazing another in the knee. The male officer is currently in critical condition in the ICU at Grady Memorial Hospital, while the female officer is being treated for her injuries and reported hearing loss from the gunfire.

The shooting occurred around 11:30 PM, sending shockwaves through the transit system. Eyewitnesses reported chaos as passengers were abruptly diverted from the station amid the unfolding violence. The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, managed to flee the scene, jumping onto a train and eluding capture. Authorities later located the weapon he discarded, which he attempted to throw onto the roof of a nearby station.

MARTA police have activated a fugitive task force to track down the gunman, whose whereabouts remain unknown. Officers described the suspect as dangerous and urged the public to stay vigilant. Train services were temporarily halted at Five Points, causing significant delays for commuters in the area.

As the investigation continues, the community is left shaken by the violence that erupted in a public space. The MARTA police chief expressed deep concern for the injured officers, both of whom are relatively new to the force. Updates on their conditions and further details on the suspect’s identity are expected soon.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as authorities work tirelessly to bring the shooter to justice.
