Angelina Jolie’s children are thrilled she’s in a Marvel movie.
The 44-year-old actress is set to play the warrior Thena in Marvel’s superhero movie The Eternals and Angelina revealed her children – Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne – are proud of her latest role.
‘What’s really moving to me is that they want to see me strong, and so it’s less to see me in a film, but they’re just happy I will be strong and having fun,’ the ex of Brad Pitt told People.
Angelina explained that her training regime includes ‘everything from swords to ballet’. She added: ‘She’s a warrior. I’m going to have to work very hard to give the Marvel Cinematic Universe the Thena they deserve.’
Speaking about director Chloe Zhao, Angelina said: ‘I think Chloe is going to make a special Marvel film. With all the love and respect for the others and what makes them work, we hope to add something new.’
Meanwhile, Angelina and her children are currently working together on a global current affairs show for kids, in partnership with the BBC.
She said: ‘We enjoy reading the kids pullout of the New York Times and look at National Geographic, but as a parent, I felt there wasn’t that one vetted and reliable internationally-minded news program tailored for children that we could sit down and watch together each week. That is what I hope this will be for our family and other families.’
According to a press release, the prime objective of the show is ‘to help children have access to impartial information of the highest editorial standard and bring a deeper understanding of the different issues their peers face in other parts of the world.’
The show will first be commissioned for a pilot series consisting of 10 weekly half-hour episodes, which will be produced by the BBC World Service, and executive produced by Angelina.
Once the English-language version of the show has been launched, there are then plans to expand to multiple languages.
On Wednesday she shared an essay with Time about the US/Mexico border crisis.
Jolie writes: ‘We all want our borders to be secure and our laws to be upheld, but it is not true that we face a choice between security and our humanity: between sealing our country off and turning our back to the world on the one hand, or having open borders on the other.
‘The best way of protecting our security is by upholding our values and addressing the roots of this crisis. We can be fearless, generous and open-minded in seeking solutions.’
Meanwhile, her ex Brad was seen getting a kiss from Girls actress Lena Dunham, 33, on Tuesday at the London premiere of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
Neither Angelina nor Brad seem to have dated since their 2019 split.
