Rasmus Hojlund confidently claims to beat Marcus Rashford’s record after moving to Manchester United.
That is the headline shared in the article of the Mirror (UK) today 10/8. Denmark international striker Rasmus Hojlund has some big Premier League goals ahead of him, after he joined Manchester United from Atalanta in a £72m transfer deal, the Mirror writes.
Manchester United rookie Rasmus Hojlund is ready to challenge Marcus Rashford for the title of fastest player at Old Trafford after completing his move to the club from Atalanta. While Hojlund may not be ready for an immediate debut due to a pre-season injury, the arrival of the 20-year-old Danish striker has been warmly welcomed throughout Old Trafford.
One thing that Rasmus Hojlund will bring to the “red devils” is speed. Hojlund’s former coach at Atalanta, Gian Piero Gasperini, claims Hojlund can run the 100m in less than 11 seconds. The record top speed at MU currently set by Marcus Rashford last season is 24.8 mi/h.
“Yes, for sure,” Rasmus Hojlund told club media when asked if Gasperini’s claims were true, “I don’t know if it’s like you standing guard every day, but when we do I went inside after practice, they said I had a pretty high top speed.
Yes, I’m ready (to take on the challenge after Rashford’s record)”, added Rasmus Hojlund, “Hopefully we can team up instead of compete, but yes, when you play on the top On the training ground, you will get better together on the court.”
Marcus Rashford was the 12th fastest player in the Premier League last season, with Manchester United team-mate Diogo Dalot also in the Top 15. Kyle Walker of Manchester City led the way with the highest recorded speed of 23.18 mi/h.
Hojlund, who scored nine Serie A goals last season, has been training at Carrington. He was expected to wait a few weeks for his MU debut, but head coach Erik ten Hag of the “reds” offered reassuring remarks and believed in Hojlund’s progress.
MU coach Erik Ten Hag told Sky Sports (UK): “Of course Rasmus Hojlund is available and he’s here to let you pick him, but we don’t expect him to be 100 per cent fit. in a short time. So we have to wait a little longer.
We need all the slots to double because of the number of games in the season. It’s hard to say how that process will go, but I think Rasmus Hojlund is making good progress at the moment. We have to see day by day how progress is going, then we have to watch.”
MU will kick off the Premier League opening match on Monday, August 14 at Old Trafford against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Wolves will enter the match against MU with a new coach. Gary O’Neil was selected to replace Julen Lopetegui in charge of Wolves on Wednesday.
O’Neil arrived at Wolves after helping Bournemouth stay in the Premier League last season. His team lost both matches against MU, 0-3 at Old Trafford and 0-1 at home with Casemiro’s only goal.
