Jay Leno buys $13.5million Rhode Island mansion with eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and room for some of his car collection in a six-vehicle garage

Former ‘Tonight Show’ host Jay Leno and his wife, Mavis, have purchased an oceanfront mansion in Newport, Rhode Island.

Leno, 67, paid $13.5 million for the 18,000-square-foot home, called Seafair. The lavish pad has eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms and comes with a pool, a tennis court and private beach.

Lucky for Leno, who collects cars that have their own Facebook page, the space also boasts a six-vehicle garage space.

Melanie Delman, president of Lila Delman Real Estate, which previously listed the property, said: ‘We are happy to welcome Jay Leno to Newport. It’s wonderful to see more prominent people joining our community.

‘We anticipate a continued interest in Rhode Island, specifically with regard to the many unique real estate opportunities we have to offer.’

According to a recent report by Money Inc, the longtime comedian owns around 286 collectibles – which include 169 cars and 117 motorcycles.

The ‘Big Dog Garage’ is ‘staffed by a crack team of mechanical wizards, who can fix, restore or customize just about anything,’ the company overview reads.

The spacey home, built in 1936, sits on nine acres and offers crystal clear views of the Atlantic Ocean.

It was previously owned by Denver mining heir Verner Zevola Reed Jr., an American banker and diplomat who served as US ambassador to Morocco from 1981 to 1985.

The mansion even ‘hosted a fundraiser for former president Barack Obama in 2014 and a birthday party in 2003 for Mr. Bready,’ according to Mansion Global.

The Massachusetts-born Leno bought the property after he was spotted out and about in Newport in recent months – which stirred speculation about his move.

The property was previously listed on Sotheby’s for $17.5 million

Aside from his time spent checking out the property, Leno he has been known to stop in at the seaside resort town’s Audrain Automobile Museum.
