A HEAD of the fashion pack: Topshop Unique models take style inspiration from Anne Boleyn as they walk the runway in sheer dresses and shaggy coats

Topshop is at the forefront of the high street and its rebellious offering at London Fashion Week did not disappoint the eager fashionistas.

Models who walked at the Topshop Unique show were described as a ‘rebel in a rush’ in outfits modelled on Henry VIII’s wife Anne Boleyn.

Some outfits left little to the imagination with a fuchsia sheer lace teamed with a pair of high-waisted black pants while a sequin-covered skirt was paired with a khaki bralet and fur at Tate Britain, London.

So what’s on the cards for AW16? The high street giant took this season’s most favoured trends – including midi boots, shaggy coats and sheer dresses – and treated them to an edgy update.

According to the show notes, the Topshop girl – hailed ‘a rebel in a rush’ – is one of carefree contrasts inspired by Anne Boleyn. So, whilst her hot pink dress was completely sheer, it came with a prim collar and daring blouses were worn with conservative pearls.

Androgynous cuts – like mannish trousers – were teamed with classically feminine blouses.

The sheer daring trend favoured by a roll call of A-listers shows no sign of abating; models almost exclusively went bra-free and displayed their bare breasts beneath racy black shirts complete with cool velvet chokers.

As for outerwear, the aviator jacket is still big news and was updated with a chestnut colour palette, whilst the classic trench coat looks set to be the cover-up du jour come autumn.

Always a highlight, eveningwear had the FROW talking.

Embellished velvet gowns, sexy slip dresses and décolletage-baring bra-tops all garnered attention on the runway and are sure to do so in your wardrobe, too.

Arcadia boss Sir Philip Green is always one step ahead of the fashion game and, without fail, taps the soon-to-be huge models for his runway and adorns his front row with their predecessors.

His AW16 show at the Tate Britain on Sunday afternoon was case in point. Jourdan Dunn, Suki Waterhouse, Lottie Moss, Lara Stone and Karlie Kloss sat pretty on the frow as they watched Victoria’s Secret Angel, Taylor Hill, catwalk queen, Malaika Firth, and budding supermodel, Sam Rollinson, strut the runway.

Whilst the starry front row proved distracting, the clothes themselves were equally as impressive – and it’s always refreshing to witness a catwalk collection that we can actually afford.

As one of the few runway collections the vast majority of women can – and probably will – buy, you can guarantee that the trends seen on today’s catwalk will be filtering down to the streets in no time.

Suki Waterhouse watched on in a pale-pink vintage frock with a marabou pink stole with sister Immy by her side in a more dressed down outfit – rocking a pair of Converse with ankle-length navy trousers.

New York socialite Olivia Palermo played it simple in stripes and Karlie Kloss sported boxer braids with a black jumpsuit.
