MH370 search: ‘Plane door’ located on the same island as wing wreckage

A piece of wreckage thought to be part of a plane door has been found washed up on the SAME island where a wing piece was discovered.

Police on the tiny French island of Reunion have revealed the debris was discovered further round the island early this morning.

It was discovered further towards the island’s airport – some distance from the location where a wing piece washed up last week.

There has been no confirmation yet on whether it is even from the doomed flight MH370, but police have revealed they believe it to be a plane door.

It is currently being examined by officers on the tiny island, but is expected to be shipped to France to be studied by experts.

It is not known if it is from the doomed Malaysia Airlines flight or if it is from a Boeing 777.

The news comes as wreckage that is thought to be from missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 arrived in France for investigators to examine yesterday.

The section of wing was found on the tiny island of La Reunion earlier this week and has been taken to France so experts can check it out and determine if it is from the doomed flight.

The section of wing is thought to come from a Boeing 777 plane – the same model that went missing last year with 239 people on board.

An Air France flight carrying the debris landed at Orly airport near Paris just after 4am UK time.

It will be delivered to a military unit near the southwest city of Toulouse which specialises in analysing aviation wreckage.

Experts hope the barnacled 2-2.5 metres (6.5-8 feet) long wing surface known as a flaperon and a fragment of luggage could yield clues as to the fate of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, which vanished without trace in March 2014.

There were 239 passengers and crew on board, and some families of the victims are demanding further compensation from the airline.

Malaysian Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai told Reuters in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday that additional Malaysian officials were headed to Reunion to look for more debris and others would go to France.
