Mahomes signed a team-friendly 10-year contract in 2020 – worth $450 million at the time – but restructured in 2023 and will likely do so again in the next couple of years.

His Chiefs contract pales in significance to rival QBs around the league.

While Mahomes is earning less than $60m this season, the likes of Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson are earning more than $95m.

However, according to Forbes, Mahomes is the most marketable athlete in the NFL – and it’s not close.

They estimate his off-field earnings in 2024 to be $25m, with Justin Herbert the closest challenger with $11m in off-field earnings last year.

His overall net worth is not known, but the $450m contract, portfolio of businesses and off-field marketability mean Mahomes could quickly head to BILLIONAIRE status.

NFL contract
His largest source of income, Mahomes’ $450m contract does not expire until 2030.

As mentioned above, Mahomes isn’t close to the highest-earning players in the league.

In fact, 10 quarterbacks are paid more on a per-year average.

But Mahomes will likely restructure that deal a couple of times before it expires, especially if he keeps up his play as one of the very best players in the league.

‘Mahomes 15’ jerseys are also the best sellers in the league – last season, he earned over $3.5m in jersey sales from the NFLPA.

Adidas deal

Mahomes is endorsed by German sportswear giant Adidas – although the exact figure of his deal is unknown.

Estimates online vary between $5m and $25m.

His deal includes an exclusive signature line with clothes and shoes released under his name.

Sports teams

Patrick Mahomes has been a huge investor in sports teams – especially in Kansas City.

Mahomes, the son of former MLB star Pat, is a huge baseball fan and was famously drafted in the 37th round of the 2014 MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers, although he never signed a contract.

He owns a 1% stake in the Kansas City Royals as well as several other professional sports teams in the city.

Mahomes is also a part owner of MLS side Sporting Kansas City, as well as women’s soccer team Sporting Kansas City, who play in the NWSL.

Mahomes and superstar teammate Travis Kelce were also part of the ownership group pouring money into Formula One team Alpine.

Other investors include golfer Rory McIlroy, boxer Anthony Joshua and soccer player Trent Alexander-Arnold.

He said: “I think everybody can see the appeal.

“I’ve been able to get to a couple races now, seeing the environment, and then obviously watching the Drive to Survive on Netflix you see how competitive it is.

“Any time you get an opportunity to get in on that, I mean I’m as competitive as anyone can get, so hopefully it can open up to some great opportunities and we are able to go to some of those races and have a little stake in the game.”

Other investments

Mahomes is also an investor in smaller opportunities.

Recently he became the face of Throne Sport Coffee, a caffeinated drink, and has also invested in several health and wellness start-ups.

This includes Whoop, a wearable tech firm that tracks health and fitness data.

NBA superstar Kevin Durant was another investor.

Mahomes also signed an equity deal with Hyperice in 2020, becoming a brand ambassador as well as part-owner.

That company provides massage guns and hyperbaric air chambers such as Normatec – used by LeBron James to aid in his recovery.

Commercials and endorsements

Mahomes is a fixture on TV and has appeared in multiple commericals.

This includes for State Farm, Subway and Essential Water.

He also has a wide variety of other endorsement deals, with the likes of T-Mobile, Oakley and Head & Shoulders also paying him to represent their products.

Mahomes is famously said to have a deal with his favourite beer, Coors Light.

He is also one of the faces of Logan Paul and KSI’s Prime energy drink.

Real estate portfolio

The U.S. Sun previously revealed how Mahomes had a real estate portfolio worth around $8million.

This included a modest condo in Kansas City as well as a huge Texas mansion – bought for $3.37 million – where he spends his time in the offseason.

The 7,800 square foot house is said to be worth closer to $6 million today.

Family money

Mahomes’ father, Pat Mahomes Sr, was a professional baseball star who played more than 300 games in the MLB for six different clubs between 1992 and 2003.

Although his career earnings are not quite what his son has managed, Mahomes Sr still earned an estimated $2.6 million during his pro career.
