Before becoming a recognized figure in Hollywood cinema , ‘The Rock’ went through many shortcomings as a child , the same ones that he does not want his three children to live.
In an interview with Jordi Rosado, he told him that he has always been very lucky to make money and he does not want his children to suffer the same deficiencies that he had in his childhood.
“Does it make things easier? Yes of course. Of course brother. You’re not worried about bills and things like that. My little children, I don’t want them to grow up like me, I want them to have much more than me, but the truth is that money doesn’t make you nice. Money doesn’t make you grateful. The money does not make you happy”.
The concept of happiness is more present than ever after the death of his father , Rocky Johnson, who was a professional wrestler and who passed away two years ago.
He recalled his childhood and his economic situation
When he lived in Hawaii with his mom, they kept up with the accounts; so they couldn’t pay for the place they had rented, so they were evicted from the house and from the island, the actor recalled.
“We were evicted because we couldn’t pay the rent. It was $180 a week for rent. We had to pay by the week… We couldn’t pay that for about five weeks. And finally they kicked us out, they kicked us off the island.”
‘La Roca’ assured that the day they were evicted their mother cried like never before, because she felt that it was the lowest they had fallen, her father was living in another part of the United States.
“She was crying and I remember thinking about that moment, and I remember it like it was yesterday. I remember thinking, ‘I’ll do everything she can to make sure this never happens again.’
His life is based on that principle: to take his parents into account and not to go through the pain of living with deprivations again .
