® Benzema leads Al Ittihad into the quarterfinals with his second victory

Karim Benzema’s goal on Sunday helped Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad advance to the King Salman Club Cup quarterfinals.

As part of the cup’s tournaments, Al Ittihad faced Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien.

Benzema scored in the 63rd minute of the second half to lead the defeat against the Tunisian club. The game ended 1-0, advancing Al Ittihad in the competition.

The victory on Sunday comes after the former Real Madrid player put up a remarkable performance in his debut game with the club on Thursday. Al Ittihad defeated Espérance Sportive de Tunis 2-1, with one goal assisted by Benzema and the other scored by the new Al Ittihad player himself.

In June, Benzema officially signed a three-year contract with Al Ittihad. He is one of several high-profile footballers who have lately joined Saudi Arabian clubs, following in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined Al Nassr.
