Marcus Rashford is in the form of his life under Erik Ten Hag: The Man United star is twice as lethal as he was for Jose Mourinho and almost five times better than he was for Ralf Rangnick

Marcus Rashford is enjoying the best goal-scoring form of his Manchester United career under Erik ten Hag, netting once every 123 minutes on average for the Dutch manager.

The forward continued his free-scoring form with a late brace against Charlton at Old Trafford on Tuesday, as the Red Devils carved out a convincing 3-0 win to reach the League Cup semi-finals.

Statistics show that Rashford is producing the best minutes-per-goal ratio of his career under Ten Hag, almost five times better than he achieved whilst Ralf Rangnick was at the club.

The England international only managed a goal every 584 minutes under the 64-year-old coach last season, scoring twice in 22 appearances.

Clearing prospering under Dutch managers, Rashford’s next best minutes-per-goal ratio came during Louis van Gaal’s reign at Old Trafford, with the winger netting eight goals in 18 matches at a rate of one every 177 minutes.

The 25-year-old is twice as lethal now in front of goal as he was under Jose Mourinho, who had Rashford scoring once every 250 minutes for the Red Devils.

Rashford’s transformation under the Dutch coach has helped Manchester United to fourth in the Premier League, four points off rivals Manchester City and nine points away from league leaders Arsenal.

The Red Devils star has bagged 15 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring at least once in all four of Manchester United’s competitions – the Premier League, League Cup, FA Cup and Europa League.

Building momentum after a fruitful goal-scoring campaign with England in Qatar, Rashford has found the net in each of his last six competitive matches for Manchester United since returning from the World Cup.

After finding the target in United’s 2-0 League Cup victory against Burnley, he scored the opener versus Nottingham Forest, the winner at Wolves and the last goal against Bournemouth, contributing greatly to Ten Hag’s rampant Premier League form.

Rashford then grabbed a stoppage time penalty against Everton in the FA Cup in midweek before firing home his quickfire brace at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Ten Hag will no doubt hope Rashford is firing on all cylinders when the reigning champions travel to Old Trafford for the Manchester derby on Saturday.

The England winger could be benefitting from the exit of Portuguese megastar Cristiano Ronaldo, who left Manchester to join Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Nassr on a £175m-a-year deal this month.

Before his acrimonious exit, Ronaldo heavily criticised the club, Ten Hag and former manager Rangnick – describing him as ‘not even a coach’ – in an explosive, tell-all interview with Piers Morgan in November.
