Directed by Gene Stupnitsky from a screenplay he co-wrote with John Phillips, the story follows a directionless Uber driver named Maggie (Lawrence) who answers an ad from a couple seeking someone to date their painfully awkward teenage son Percy (Andrew Barth Feldman).
The parents hope the experience will help educate him in the ways of physical and emotional maturity and boost his confidence prior to college.
But in the end things don’t go as planned, which helps with the comedic angle of the plot.
Along with Feldman and Lawrence, who also served double duty as one of the producers, the cast also included Laura Benanti, Natalie Morales, Matthew Broderick, Scott MacArthur, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Kyle Mooney and Hasan Minhaj, among others.
