Hannibal Mejbri hasn’t made an appearance for Manchester United since the final day of the 21/22 season – but he’s been offered an “important” role if he stays at Old Trafford.
Manchester United have promised forgotten youngster Hannibal Mejbri an “important” role if he stays at Old Trafford beyond Transfer Deadline Day.
The Red Devils’ pursuit of a new midfielder has hit a wall in recent weeks, with Erik ten Hag’s side looking set to miss out on Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch.
Ten Hag also saw his pursuit of Sofyan Amrabat stall, with United unable to afford his price tag. The Red Devils offered to take him on loan, with a £2million loan fee, but Fiorentina rejected the deal.
And United have now turned to the youngster to try and solve their midfield woes – and, according to the Manchester Evening News, United have promised him an “important” role if he stays at Old Trafford.
Mejbri has just three United appearances to his name, with his last cap coming on the final day of the 21/22 season against Crystal Palace.
The Frenchman spent last season out on loan at Birmingham City – where he made 38 appearances, and he even netted his first senior goal with a free-kick against West Brom.
Mejbri has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, Sevilla currently appears to be the frontrunner for his services. However, Anderlecht are patiently waiting in the wings.
The youngster is reportedly leaning towards remaining with the Red Devils. However, United are aware his situation could change before Friday evening’s 11pm deadline.
