Zendaya recently adopted a tactic often employed by celebrities, akin to Blake Lively and several others, by unfollowing everyone on her Instagram account, including her boyfriend, Tom Holland. Despite this move, Holland continues to follow her account.
Her latest Instagram post, shared on January 1, served as a promotion for her upcoming film “The Challengers.” “Challengers April 26th,” she captioned alongside well wishes for the new year. It’s a common strategy among celebrities to clear their Instagram feeds or unfollow everyone before announcing a new project to generate curiosity and hype.
Over the holiday season, Zendaya and Holland were spotted attending the musical “The Little Big Things” in London’s West End, just before Christmas. They took a photo backstage with star Malinda Parris, which Parris later shared online, referring to Holland and Zendaya as “the SWEETEST.”
Speaking with ELLE last summer, Zendaya addressed the public interest in her relationship with Holland. When questioned about whether the public’s acceptance of their relationship made it easier to handle the attention, she acknowledged that certain aspects of her life would inevitably be public. She emphasized the importance of personal control over shared information while aiming to preserve peace. “It’s about protecting your peace and allowing things to remain your own, but also not shying away from existence,” Zendaya explained, highlighting the delicate balance she navigates.
Reflecting on the attention she received during the filming of “The Challengers,” Zendaya pinpointed a notable shift in the level of public scrutiny. She noticed a significant change “after the last Spider-Man and the last season of Euphoria.” This heightened visibility altered her ability to freely move around, particularly during her time in Boston. She expressed discomfort in social settings, recognizing the potential to impact the atmosphere negatively. “Everybody would go hang out at a bar or something, and I’d be like, ‘I’d love to, but I think I could ruin everybody’s night,'” Zendaya shared, illustrating the challenges of her increasing visibility.
