Columbus Yacht, the Italian superyacht shipyard is launching the construction of a new 80-metre model, marking the brand’s debut in the megayacht sector. Built with a new approach to construction processes, this new unit will be delivered to its owner in 2019. With both classic and contemporary lines, this yacht will have 6 decks and will be the first model in a range dedicated to megayachts.
A living space spread over six decks
With a length of 79.50 m and a beam of 13 m, this megayacht will have a displacement hull with steel hull and aluminium superstructure. The Italian shipyard presents her as an excellent balance between a renaissance inspiration and a discreet sense of elegance, giving her the harmony of a yacht reminiscent of the famous cruise liners of the 50/60s, while adapting perfectly to her time and the years to come.
The interior style is contemporary, with neutral and discreet tones, decorative elements with simple and clean lines. The materials used for coverings and furniture also serve to create a modern and sophisticated atmosphere.
The spaces are spread over six levels, from the lower deck to the sundeck, to offer the owner, guests and crew the highest level of comfort and convenience at sea. A circular glass lift connects the five main decks, from the lower deck – accessed by tender – to the sundeck, where it opens onto a superb view from above.
The entire upper deck is dedicated to the owner with a large double bedroom with a bed at the bow and a superb 180° view, a private studio and a 3 e space for guests. Private outdoor areas include a large terrace at the rear, as well as a balcony at the front with a breathtaking view of the horizon.
Six large double suites located forward of the main deck provide guest accommodation, while a seventh cabin on the lower deck can be used as a “joker” for last-minute guests.
One of the most distinctive areas of the Columbus 80 m is installed on the sundeck: the superb panoramic swimming pool, 7 m long and equipped with a counter-current swimming system. A waterfall flows from the roof into the pool and serves as a natural barrier between the pool and the jacuzzi. Located inside the mast structure, the tub is closed on three sides, evoking the magical feeling of a cave hidden behind a wall of water.
The aft part of the lower deck is also reserved for guests. The rear and side walls open outwards to increase the deck area from 100 to 200 m and create a large beach club at water level with sun loungers, bar and toilets. The two side garages contain two tenders (10 and 7.5 metres) and are served by a boarding platform with direct access to the lobby and the main lift.
The forward section is reserved for the crew, with a large open saloon/kitchen and eight cabins for 19 people. When not on duty, crew members can relax in their own gym on the lower deck, which is connected by a service lift to all other decks so that the crew can easily move around the yacht without disturbing the owner or guests.
Facilities also include two garages at the bow for a tender/lifeboat and three jet-skis, a helipad, a sauna on the beach club, a gym on the flydeck and a cinema and multimedia room on the sundeck.
The Colombus 80m is equipped with two 2240 KW (3044 HP) engines with shaft line transmissions, installed in the central part of the lower deck. The engine compartment also houses the three 300 kW generators as well as the 125 kW auxiliary. The megayacht has a cruising range of 6000 nautical miles.
