“Excited to be host next week,” Woods wrote on social media to announce his decision. Woods will be a player-host for the PGA Tour event that takes place from February 15–18 and supports his organization.
The 48-year-old hinted that he intended to attend the Riviera when he concluded his statement in January announcing the end of his ten-year relationship with Nike.
Woods withdrew from the 2023 Masters before the third round and underwent fusion surgery on his right ankle. This will be his first official PGA Tour start since that tournament.
In an unofficial PGA Tour event at the end of November, the Hero World Challenge, which had a small field and no cut, Woods celebrated his comeback to professional golf after missing the majority of 2023.
In the PNC Championship, a 36-hole competition that pits two-player teams consisting of a Major champion and a family member, Woods participated with his son Charlie two weeks later.
Woods felt prepared to execute his strategy of competitive action every month in 2024 after playing in Florida.
“After the Orlando event’s final round, I’ll be able to walk and play,” Woods declared.
“Our system has been exercising a lot and recovering well. What’s nice is that we’ve been training daily. Since, to be honest, I haven’t made a shot that mattered in a while, it’s been good to shake off a lot of the rust and some of the doubt that I’ve had,” he admitted.
From April 11 to April 14, Augusta National will host the Masters. The US Open, British Open, and PGA Championship are scheduled for May, June, and July of twenty-four years.
