Gal Gadot, the star of the Wonder Woman franchise, is making headlines once again after reports surfaced that the third film in the series may not move forward at DC Studios.
Gadot has been portraying the iconic Diana Prince, also known as Wonder Woman, since her debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016. She has since appeared in two solo Wonder Woman movies and The Justice League.
Initially, Gadot was set to reprise her role in a third solo film, with Patty Jenkins set to direct. However, recent reports suggest that the project won’t be happening.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new heads of DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran, along with Warner Bros. Pictures co-chairs and co-CEOs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, have given some thought to the future of the comic book movie franchise and how it will all connect.
Although director Patty Jenkins had been working on the script for Wonder Woman 3, which was co-written with Geoff Johns, the plans didn’t align with the vision of the new heads. As a result, the movie is said to be “dead in its current iteration.” While this could hint at a potential revival in a different form, no final decisions have been made.
Fans have been responding to Gadot’s tweet, with some jokingly noting that her message had “aged well.” Others expressed their continued hope that Gadot would continue to portray the beloved superhero in the future.
It is important to note that there has been no official comment from DC regarding these reports. As fans eagerly await further updates, they can only hope that Gadot’s Wonder Woman will have more adventures on the big screen in the future.
