The “Wonder Woman” star admitted that every time she acts, she always doubts herself and worries that no one will like what she does.
In an interview with L’Officiel on May 30, Gal Gadot revealed that she has Imposter Syndrome. This syndrome makes the patient feel like they are not worthy of the success they have achieved or worry that others will “discover” that they are not that talented.
Gadot shared that she is lucky and happy to do what she likes. However, the star is afraid that others will not accept what she does. She explained: “I never thought ‘they will like this’, but I always felt ‘hope they will like it’.”
Francis Ford Coppola – the famous director of the Godfather trilogy – is the person who helped Gadot revive her spirit. The two had an open conversation many years ago. That time, Gadot understood that behind the resounding success, the 84-year-old director had to deal with even more mixed emotions than her.
“I was always filled with doubts, afraid they wouldn’t like my work. However, I just followed my heart and moved forward humbly. This is one of the biggest lessons,” Coppola shared with Gadot.
Realizing that the two had sympathy, Gadot learned Coppola’s way – which is to always be humble and believe in yourself.
After Fast X, the Israeli star starred in and co-produced the movie Heart Of Stone. Her husband, Jaron Versano, also participated in the production of this work.
Also in the interview with L’Officiel, Gadot shared: “With Wonder Woman, we proved that a universal story is still good, accepted by many people. Therefore, I feel that action movies have A female-centered character with a thorny personality will have more of a place than a glossy superhero movie.”
The star wants to show the image of an independent woman who can do everything herself. Gadot’s character must be the type to be strong and not dependent on others, especially men.
Before Gadot, Taylor Swift also revealed that she had imposter syndrome. She said at the premiere of the short film All Too Well: The Short Film in June 2022: “For people with imposter syndrome, there is always a voice in the head saying ‘No, you can’t do that. Just Only others can do this job well and only they are qualified to direct others.”
