3-time F1 champion, reigning world champion Max Verstappen still cannot rent a Mercedes-AMG GT. He was forced to temporarily use a BMW 5-Series.
Even with the most skillful F1 racing car driving ability in the world at present, Max Verstappen still has no way to rent a Mercedes-AMG GT sports car. The reigning F1 champion realized this harsh truth during his recent vacation in Portugal. He and his family and friends rented a plane to the Algarve.
The family then rented 20 cars through the Sixt service for both daily use and to experience the nearby Algarve International Circuit when Verstappen rented this playground for 2 days.
However, when he received the car, the Dutch racer was informed that he was not eligible to rent the registered Mercedes-AMG GT because… he was not old enough. Sixt’s policy for Mercedes supercars requires the driver to be 30 years old while Verstappen is only 26.
Even with a 3-time F1 champion, his first F1 championship at the age of 18 and his masterful ability to drive a high-performance car, this policy cannot be changed according to Sixt’s admission.
Max Verstappen, although extremely surprised by the above policy, still complied with the car rental service’s regulations and then drove a BMW 5-Series. His manager is the driver of the AMG GT.
