Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk’s massive eco-friendly Montecito mansion appears to be completed after seven years of construction, in new aerial images taken over the weekend.
The mega mansion, which boasts an Olympic sized pool, was previously seen without the outer landscaping now, which is now complete.
Gwyneth and Brad originally purchased the 14,000 square foot home for $4.9 million in 2016.
When they bought the home, it was reported it needed extensive work, which already boasted four bedrooms and four bathrooms.
The power couple had 60 solar panels installed as well as more trees on the property.
The home sits on a huge plot of land and the landscaping appears to be completed.
In 2021, only the grass around around the freshly completely pool was done; shrubbery and trees as well as a stone walk way have been completed.
There are two gusts homes on the property, with one across from the massive pool and one across from the stone walk way.
The landscaping along the driveway was also added.
Paltrow bought the property for only $4.9million back in 2016 as it since has become the go-to neighborhood of choice for top-tier celebrities to seek solace away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles.
Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, Oprah Winfrey, and Ellen DeGeneres are just a few of the A-listers who live in the celebrity-favorite enclave.
The royal couple moved into their sprawling nine-bedroom and 16-bathroom mansion in upscale Montecito for $14.65million in June 2020.
Surrounded by lush green gardens and overlooking the sea, the Paltrow/Falchuk home has been described as a ‘hidden paradise’.
One estate agent who spent an hour inside said it was ‘designed for someone who never wants to leave home’.
Brett Buschbom said: ‘I went through this house and an hour later I’m coming out like “wow”, the whole bottom floor felt like a resort with steam room, massage room, sauna, Jacuzzi, full bar, arcade and one of the most amazing wine cellars and that was just the basement.’
No doubt the overhaul has been an interesting experience for Paltrow’s neighbors as she had stirred up controversy with her neighbors in 2016 she bought two neighboring estates in the district and was cleared for plans to build a new mansion across both sites.
Speaking to Page Six at the time, one of her neighbors insisted the new home is ‘too big, too tall and incompatible with the adjacent houses, and it blocks their views’.
Gwyneth, who also owns homes in New York and London, had left neighbors enraged after plans for the home were cleared despite claims the home is still ‘too tall’ – after the star claimed to have lowered the home by eight feet.
Andrew Rice, a spokesman for one neighbor, Michael MacElhenny, told Page Six: ‘She’s created an uproar with neighbors on all three sides. Michael and the other neighbors have tried to work with her, and they’ve gotten nowhere’.
The representative was insistent at the time that the star had only lowered the home by one foot and he claimed the project had been given the go-ahead based on false information.
The couple reportedly purchased the Palladian-style house from controversial Nigerian Businessman Kola Aluko after his bank accounts were seized due to his nefarious business practices.
There are some additional downsides to living in the private area as back in January 2018 mudslides wrecked the grounds of Paltrow’s home as they also left 17 dead, 8 missing and hundreds trapped inside their homes.
The property had boasted ‘Monet-like gardens’ and stunning water features.
Gwyneth has two children, her lookalike daughter Apple, 19, and her son Moses, 17.
She shares the teens with her ex-husband Chris Martin, whom she was married to from 2003 until announcing their ‘conscious uncoupling in 2014.
The two artists have remained friends and committed coparents, even as the Coldplay frontman has gone on to have a longterm relationship with actress Dakota Johnson.
The year of her separation, Gwyneth began dating Brad, a writer and television producer known for working with Ryan Murphy on Glee and the American Horror Story series.
The two married in July 2018.
Before Gwyneth and Brad, the latest celebrities to move into Montecito were Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine and his model wife, Behati Prinsloo.
The 44-year-old crooner and Vogue star star Behati, 35, snatched up the historic estate for $22.7M and the 9-bedroom 11-bathroom home sits on 5.2 acres.
The estate was built in 1923 by famed architect George Washington Smith who originally designed the property for an attorney with early ties to the town by the name of John A Jameson.
