It’s expected that Tom Ford would have a house as unique as his designs, but just how unique, we weren’t prepared for.
His take on a classic home on the range is unlike any ranch we’ve seen before.
Designed in a Japanese style, this house features stables, pools and a tennis court.
Oh, and an entire replica of an old Western town, complete with a sheriff’s office.
Tom Ford’s home is a modest one-storey.
But that’s where the modesty stops.
His ranch stretches over 20,622 acres of land in the New Mexico desert where Ford’s many horses can roam and graze.
The designer is a cowboy at heart, requesting his ranch be designed around his paddock-based pals.
“I am happiest at my ranch in the middle of nowhere, listening to silence, riding my horse, and being in open space,” Ford said.
There are two riding rings where he can train and show off his horses no matter the weather.
He also has an eight-stall horse barn and multiple buildings for ranch hands to live in.
Ranch homes are usually rustic, featuring wood and bricks and a whole lot of dust.
Ford’s home is in stark contrast to this, with clean lines designed in a modern, cubist style.
It was designed by award-winning Japanese architect Tadao Ando.
He’s the same architect who designed Beyonce and Jay Z’s $200 million megamansion.

Ford’s home wraps around the Cerro Pelon mountain, overlooking the New Mexico plains before it.
The path leading up to the house appears to be floating on top of a huge pool.
Inside, the home is decorated in a minimalist style, seemingly the epitome of calm and relaxation.
It’s hard to believe that just a few feet away is a literal movie set.
In 1984, set designers built a western town called Silverado for the film of the same name.
The town features 28 storefronts, a church, a saloon, a sheriff’s office and a jail.
Since then, Silverado has been the setting for over 30 films.
Many of them are classic Westerns, like Walker, Texas Ranger and Cowboys & Aliens.
But it’s also been used for blockbusters like Thor: The Dark World.
When Tom Ford bought the property he kept the set, renting it out to movie studios to use.
Recently he decided it was time to part ways with his Western world and put the property up for sale.
His asking price for the entire property was $75 million.
After receiving no offers, he knocked it down to $48 million.
Not bad considering it comes with a whole saloon.
