An opulent mansion only a few doors down from the house that Donald Trump grew up in is now on the market for $5.775 million.
If the palatial Tudor-style house succeeds in fetching its asking price, it will be one of the most expensive homes ever sold in Queens.
The mansion is in Jamaica Estates, where much of the most expensive property in Queens is located.
Alexana Martins of the Corcoran Group, with whom the house is listed, said that the median sale price in the area is $2.1 million.
A home that sold for $3.8 million remains the most expensive sale to date.
The neighborhood was once home to former President Trump, whose childhood house, a modest 2,500 square feet Tudor, sold for $2.14 million in 2017.
Asking for $5.755 million, this latest listing in Jamaica Estates is a lavish, 8,000 square foot home that boasts six bedrooms.
Hailing from the 1930s, the mansion is full of character and stands on half an acre.
After they purchased the home in 2000, the Kantiuses, the current occupants, undertook several renovations.
Over the course of four years, Dr. Mikhail Kantius, a dermatopathologist, and his wife, Gina, added a gold-plated sink and a swimming pool- an unusual luxury for a home in New York City.
Gina engaged a number of Russian artists to paint more than 30 exquisite murals on the walls.
The Kantiuses also dropped around $1 million on the mahogany that dominates the home.
Mahogany can be found in the cigar room, the library, and on the doors and staircases.
Over every dining room table, a Murano glass chandelier throws its warm light.
And in the rotunda, an ornate metal chandelier hangs above the staircase, whose banister was specially made my a Russian metal artist.
The home’s other impressive features include: a wood shop, gym, sauna, billiards room, and massage room.
The dining room features glossy parquet floors and the home comes equipped with multiple fireplace.
Tall windows ensure that the interior of the house receives maximum natural light.
The Kantiuses told the Wall Street Journal that they were selling the house to spend more time at their home in West Palm Beach.
Nevertheless, they are sorry to leave such a beautiful house behind.
According to Alexana Martins, who is selling this house, there is another home in Jamaica Estates on the market for $4.99 million.
