After dropping a star-studded tracklist for his upcoming album “Missionary”, Snoop Dogg gave fans a taste of what’s to come, hinting at some exciting collaborations and a special Fortnite tie-in.
Snoop Dogg is in full promotion mode for his upcoming album “Missionary”, and fans got a double surprise recently as he delivered an impromptu performance in New York’s Times Square for the launch of Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix, which includes tracks from artists like Ice Spice, Juice WRLD, and Eminem.
During a post-performance interview with Variety, Snoop shared insight into two standout tracks: “Last Dance With Mary Jane” featuring Jelly Roll and Tom Petty, and “Gunz n Smoke” featuring 50 Cent and Eminem. While he acknowledged that “Last Dance With Mary Jane” might not fit the Fortnite scene due to its weed-themed lyrics, he hinted that “Gunz n Smoke”, with its gritty feel, could be a perfect match for the game. He explained:
That’s a real street record and it fits perfectly with the things I’m doing in this game.
On the Fortnite project, Snoop expressed his excitement about collaborating with Eminem, who was also featured in the campaign. “That’s Slim Shady, that’s my guy! My Libra gang partner”, he said with a laugh. Their long-standing friendship has seen them team up several times, and both artists relish the chance to work together.
“Missionary”, due for release on December 13, promises an array of collaborations beyond the Fortnite hype. The tracklist includes legends like Method Man and Sting, plus features from Jhené Aiko, BJ the Chicago Kid, and more. Of course, we are excited for “Gunz n Smoke” with Eminem and Fifty the most. And the new Fortnite chapter for Eminem is also exciting. His foray into this new virtual realm has proved to be a success.
Almost a year ago, Eminem’s Fortnite concert became the most streamed event in gaming history. Also, Em’s “Fortnite Radio” vinyl from the Fortnite merch capsule became the third-highest debut of the week on the Billboard vinyl-only chart.
