Cristiano Ronaldo has broken his silence on the behind-the-scenes moves at Al Nassr involving Real Madrid star Rodrygo and confirmed that he played a decisive role in the operation.
After renewing his own contract until 2026 — in a historic deal estimated to be worth almost £500 million — CR7 not only reaffirmed his commitment to the Saudi club, but also began to act as a reference in strategic decisions regarding the formation of the squad.
In an exclusive interview after the renewal, Ronaldo revealed:
“I spoke directly with the Al Nassr board and asked them to focus on bringing in Rodrygo. I believe he has the ideal profile to raise the level of our attack and help the club win important titles. I respect Martinelli a lot, but Rodrygo will fit perfectly into our project.”
According to Ronaldo, Rodrygo should receive a four-year contract, with a salary higher than what he currently earns at Real Madrid and special bonuses for goals achieved, as well as participation in the club’s marketing campaigns:
“The project we presented to Rodrygo is ambitious, competitive and offers him not only financial stability, but also the opportunity to be a protagonist and make history in Saudi Arabia. I have already explained to him that, here, we want to build something lasting, not just hire big names for status.”
The Portuguese star also commented on the moment the Brazilian experienced in Madrid:
“Rodrygo is young, has enormous potential and has shown in Europe that he can decide big games. If he decides to accept our invitation, he will be welcome. I have already spoken to him and explained how life at Al Nassr can be good for those who want to conquer new challenges and titles.”
Finally, Ronaldo highlighted his personal ambition for the season:
“I signed to continue seeking trophies with Al Nassr. Now it’s time to bring in reinforcements who share this hunger for victory. If Rodrygo comes, I’m sure we’ll fight for everything.”
Al Nassr is expected to speed up negotiations in the coming days, willing to pay more than £70 million for the Brazilian, even surpassing Arsenal’s interest. The final decision, however, is in the hands of Rodrygo, who is weighing up whether to stay in Europe or embark on a new and promising chapter in Saudi football alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
