She’s breathtaking! Angelina Jolie casts some black magic over the Governors Awards in stunning lace and sequined gown

Fans are excited to see her as the villainous Maleficent, but magnificent was the word that came to mind when Angelina Jolie hit the red carpet on Saturday.

No doubt the actress turned every head within a mile radius as she showed up at the 2013 Governors Awards in Hollywood.

Angelina looked simply beautiful in a black gown that swept the floor and boasted a small train.

The dress had a low-cut neckline with lace cap sleeves, and was embellished with a pretty sequin design.

The 38-year-old wore her brunette tresses in a ballerina inspired style, slicked back and knotted in a low bun.

She is arguably the most gorgeous woman in the world and Angelina highlighted her natural beauty with little make-up, save for a generous flick of black eyeliner and some red lip gloss.

Angelina’s fiance Brad Pitt was by her side for the occasion, clean shaven and looking like her perfect Prince Charming.

The couple were also joined by their eldest son Maddox, 12, who was very handsome in a tuxedo to match his father’s.

Brad and Maddox showed even more solidarity by sporting similar, side-buzzed hairstyles.

When the photo session was over, the actor put a protective arm around his gangling son and together they walked to the venue.

But the Salt star wasn’t short of attention from the other guests and Steve Martin looked happy as he posed with Angelina while sporting a dapper suit.

The Governors Awards is presented American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, otherwise known as AMPAS.

The ceremony this year took place at the Grand Ballroom of the Hollywood and Highland Center and as always drew in a star-studded crowd.

The purpose of the event was to present the Academy’s honorary awards in a private, non-televised and black-tie affair with the added benefit of dinner and drinks.

Angelina was joined by Angela Lansbury, Steve Martin and Italian costume designer Piero Tosi (La Traviata, La Cage Aux Folles) in receiving a golden Oscar statuette.

The green-eyed beauty, who is directing her latest film Unbroken, was reportedly ‘completely surprised’ when she learned that she would be getting the prestigious Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.

The 88-year-old Murder, She Wrote star previously commented that when she learned she was to receive an Academy Award for lifetime achievement, ‘it was quite an emotional moment.’

Angela’s debut role in 1944’s Gaslight earned her a Best Supporting Actress nomination, and since then she’s gone on to star in such diversified favourites as The Manchurian Candidate and Bedknobs And Broomsticks.

The Dallas Buyers Club star’s make-up was minimal, and her dark auburn hair was done up in an elegant chignon with one strand allowed to fall against her cheek.
